Hello
Buddies,
We
had a very good outing yesterday. After a grand breakfast of
Poha-Upma-Sheera-PuriBhaji-VadaPav-Tea at Karjat, the group reached base
village Pokharwadi and started the trek at approx 9:30 am.
In
the beginning the climate was humid, with little rain but we got to enjoy the
small streams along the trek path. The greenery around was soothing to the eyes.
We got a brief spell of winds and rains while climbing up the steep slopes. The
all round view was beautiful and consisted of Prabalgad, Irshalgad, Manikgad,
Morbe Dam, Songiri Fort and Sondai Killa.
The
walk through the dense forest was otherwise tranquil but the blood-sucking
mosquitoes did not even spare the eyes! Luckily, the group got a good massage
& shower under a waterfall just before reaching the top. That cooled us
off.
We
had lunch together at Rambaug Pt. It was a good time-pass to keep that chotu
monkey from attacking our lunch table - tried to bribe him with a pear but he
kept on returning. The slingshot provided by the villager helped us keep the
monkey at bay. The hot tea and coffee that accompanied the lunch were
refreshing. Not to forget the Jalebis, Kachoris and Chaklis. Also "Oreo
& Milk" was a good combo. It all ended with some Limbu Sherbat.
At
about 2:30 pm, we started descending. Descending was slippery due to the wet
rocks. We spent some fun time together on the grassy slopes just after the
forest patch, where we enjoyed the afternoon breeze. The sunshine was warm and
it was good to see the wet hills sparkle. Felt like staying back there but had
to return home ultimately.
We
reached the base at around 5 pm and by 5:30 pm we were ready to make the return
journey to Karjat. It was an adventure in itself to board the Khopoli local
which got packed in a few seconds. We reached Mumbai by 8 pm approx.
I
made some new friends and also met some old friends after a long time. It was a
memorable trek. Hope to see you all at OUR NEXT TREK!
HAPPY TREKKING!
